Coca-Cola was first sold in 1886, has been a registered company in the United States since 1944, and today this carbonated soft drink is sold in over 200 countries. It was originally sold as a patent medicine for 5 cents (a patent medicine is one of questionable effectiveness) due to the belief at the time that carbonated water was good for your health. Coca-Cola claimed to cure everything from morphine addiction to impotence.
