tangerine tango wedding

By now most of you probably know that Pantone’s color of the year is tangerine tango. It’s bright, it’s fun, and a little edgy. Another thing that is hot this year is the new wedding planning tool, Wedding Lovely. They are taking on TheKnot.com and providing brides with an easy and stress-free way to plan their wedding, and the best part (in my opinion) is that it’s not based on advertising! Lord knows I hate obnoxious adverts flashing all over an otherwise beautifully  designed website (thus the creation of yours truly). I was so intrigued I pretended to be a bride again and surfed right over to check it out.

First step – go to their website. It’s uncluttered and clean looking (which again, is a MAJOR plus in my book). Then it’s pretty simple, you can either sign in with Facebook, or create a username and password. I went the username and password route – didn’t want to raise any eyebrows on Facebook since I’ve been happily married since 2010!

Now, normally I hate pop ups when going to a website, but at Wedding Lovely the popups were helpful hints for using the site for the first time and this:

which I appreciated because they are (seriously!) super responsive to emails!

The load page is another joy to behold – it’s advertisement free! Check it out:

Oh my! I have an overdue task: Determine your wedding style. I clicked on it and was greeted with a short video to discuss different wedding styles and helpful hints for finding one that suits you and your partner. After that are some links – I clicked on ‘seven example wedding styles’ to see what they came up with. I chose ‘natural.’

Next Step: To use a wedding planner or not to use a wedding planner, that is the question. I went with ‘yes’ and viewed their directory of wedding planners. I was greeted with nine pages of this gorgeousness (note the little price symbols – great idea!)…

…and you can filter by price, location, and tags. Love it. I’m choosing Events by Satra in San Francisco.

After that it’s time to search for your venue. Again, you can filter by price and location – and when I searched for San Fran I found these lovely options:

I chose Holman Ranch because I can see vineyards! Hello all natural wine themed wedding wonderfulness. I clicked on the title and was taken to their profile page to read more about them. Aside from their description, a nice touch on the vendor profile page is this:

Soooo easy to use. And since in pretend bride-to-be-land I’m not entirely sure about my venue yet, I have these options:

The nice thing about Wedding Lovely is that it keeps from overwhelming you. Each month you have tasks to complete based on how long you have to plan until your wedding.

I remember what it was like planning my wedding – the overwhelming feeling of that endless ‘to do list,’ and not really being sure when each should be started so you throw youself in headfirst and when you come up for air you resemble a strung-out bridezilla. Ladies – this site will keep you in check, keep you on track, and I wish it had been around when I was planning my wedding (and I sincerely hope that it’s still around eight years from now since my husband says vow renewals at two years is ‘too soon’ ;-)). There is a sidebar on your home screen that shows what tasks are upcoming, but lets you know not to worry about them yet:

Head over to Wedding Lovely and try it out. You (and pretty much everyone who is helping you with your wedding) will be thankful.
