Reader requested wedding inspiration boards are often my favorites – I find that with a few guidelines I discover some of the best ideas out there! When Silvia emailed me she knew two things for sure: that she and Timothy were getting married at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MoCA) because they both met and interned there and that they wanted a ‘pop’ factor to wow their guests. Silvia also said that she wanted to play around with a mix of vibrant and soft colors since it is a spring wedding and that she was thinking of throwing some orange into the mix.
A lot of brides go through the ‘wedding planning blues’ – meaning they get annoyed at the sheer amount of information and inspiration that is out there and just give up for a while. Well… Silvia was one of them and said “planning gets me all worked up and I have so many things in mind that I end up getting frustrated.” Silvia – you’re not alone! And that’s why I am here to help.
Orange and powder blue with pops of aqua is a lovely color combination and a nice mix of vibrant and soft – which would be perfect for your spring wedding. Since Timothy also likes neutrals you can let the interior and exteriors of Mass MoCA be your canvas. The environment is naturally dramatic and structural so play up the color blocking on your decor elements and even with your bridal accessory choices (like the bride in this wedding inspiration board – her statement necklace is amazing!). Keep your flowers modern and look for plants with structure and height. Add graphic shapes wherever you can: on throw pillows, table linens, hanging mobiles above the reception tables, or on cookies and other finger foods!
Congratulations to Silvia and Timothy on your engagement! I hope this wedding inspiration board helped beat those wedding planning blues a bit. And brides-to-be: don’t forget that you can request your own inspiration board here!
