It’s so true that inspiration can come from anywhere and this couple’s source of inspiration is so very sweet. Ella Haus, the photography duo that sent this gorgeous 1940s inspired love shoot said: “Brendan’s grandfather fought in WWII on the largest Canadian battle cruiser, the HMCS Uganda. His interest in history started when his grandfather shared his own pictures and diary of WWII, who was away and missed the birth of his only child, a daughter.”
“Together these two were inspired by family to re-create life & love during the war as a way to celebrate their engagement. While the rain poured down we created a bunker in a loft of an old antique shop and brought everything to life with his grandfather’s war memorabilia and a 1940s parachute.”
Isn’t this love shoot sweet?! The images with the WWII parachute reminded of me scenes from the movie Pearl Harbor. I recently had the opportunity to go on base here in Honolulu and I was really taken aback by the fact that all of the original WWII airplane hangers are still there, and still riddled with bullet holes. It was a sobering but transporting experience for me and on this Memorial Day weekend I’d like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all those who have served!
