anna bé bridal boutique

I am so ready for this next installment of ‘inside the boutique!’ Today we’ve got an absolutely stunning shoot from Chowen Photography of a super chic Denver, Colorado bridal boutique – anna bé!  Anna Walsh and Breanna Doll (the two owners) were kind enough to answer a few questions for us and give you their top tips and advice for your dream dress search. Enjoy!

What prompted you both to start a bridal salon?

Anna and I used to work together at a branding/marketing firm. One night over drinks we were having a discussion about what our ‘dream jobs’ were and we each mentioned something to do with weddings. Eventually we discovered that we both had a shared frustration when we were shopping for a wedding gown: both in the style of gowns and the experience. Perhaps as a result of a cocktail or two we said “well, we should sell wedding gowns then!” and a week later we put together the plan to move forward!

What is the inspiration behind the interior styling and design elements that you chose for your boutique?

We set out to bring a well-designed, urban, yet welcoming experience to our brides. Seven years ago when we started anna bé the standard interior for a bridal boutique was really, for lack of better words, not very pretty. We wanted the juxtaposition of that urban texture (brick, exposed HVAC, wooden floors) with the refinement of the gowns. We also loved the contrast of the black with the white gowns as well as the graphic nature of the combination of black and white together.

Overtime, we have added greys into the mix which I feel like has given our space a little more interest and warmth.  A design element that I really love in the boutique is the textured wallpaper – I really enjoy how it’s subtle yet striking. It adds depth to our walls that would otherwise be flat and not very interesting. Another design element I admire everyday is our huge anna bé marquee sign! It’s extremely large (it was designed for outdoors) but I love the warm glow of the lights and the added raw feel to our space (picture is at the bottom of this post).

How would you describe an anna bé bride?

I would describe the anna bé bride as someone who appreciates great design. She is a bride who is looking to infuse her entire wedding with amazing style. Our brides tend to be a little bit more laid back (that’s Colorado for you – even though many of the brides we have are getting married all across the country!), but with an eye for detail and an appreciation of service. We work hard to make it fun here and count many of our brides as good friends!

Any tips or pieces of advice that you’d like to give to ladies looking for their dream wedding dress right now?

From Anna: 1. Be nice to yourself! We hear way too many girls tell us that they don’t like x, y, or z about themselves. I know it’s hard not to, but trust me, those flaws that are magnified in your head – well, we just don’t see them!

2. Know that it’s ok to say yes! If you feel like you’ve found the dress, it’s ok to stop the shopping. Some people love to shop; they will want to try every store and see lots and lots of options. But if that’s not you and you feel amazing in a gown, go for it and don’t worry that you haven’t seen everything!

From Breanna: 1. Try and remind yourself throughout your wedding planning process to not take this so seriously! It’s so easy to get caught up in it all and lose sight of the actual person that you are doing all of this for.

2. When shopping bring a small group with you that will be helpful in making a decision – for example: your mom and your best friend. That’s it!

3. Don’t put pressure on yourself that you will have the ‘this is the one!’ moment with your gown. It depends on your personality and the way you shop as to whether you will have that moment. So don’t beat yourself up about it if it doesn’t happen. It doesn’t make your gown any less special!
