chaviano couture fall 2013

We’ve had Annette, the brilliant designer behind Chaviano Couture on the blog before (read our interview with her here) so I’m beyond thrilled to share her fabulous new fall 2013 collection with you today. These gorgeous wedding dresses were shot by the lovely Melissa Schollaert and she did such a fantastic job of capturing what makes Chaviano Couture gowns so special – the exquisite and thoughtful details!

Isn’t that hand painted gown the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen? Annette reached out to Kristy Rice of Momental Designs to collaborate on this beauty and I just had to know more so I got in touch with Kristy!

From Kristy: “When Annette and I first met we talked of big, loose patterns and how to interpret the washy, whimsical nature of watercolor on fabric. Annette wanted a soft blush pink inspired palette that could nearly read as neutral, paired with an understated but feminine pattern. We wanted the wow factor to be in the painting. The art of something crafted to be worn on one of life’s most joyous days.”

“9 yards of silk organza were shipped to our studio and for the better part of two weeks I painted watery inks across the sheer surface. Bold, sweeping brushstrokes of blush were painted with delicate, swirling rosettes, whimsical droplets of creamy gold at the flowers’ centers and graceful white leafy moments.”

Aren’t these gowns marvelous?! I’d like to give a big mahalo and thank you to Melissa for sending this beautiful shoot, Annette for being such an inspirational designer, and to Kristy for taking the time to answer my questions about her fantastic artwork!

(side note: if you’ve been looking through this shoot and getting that feeling that you recognize the model from somewhere – yes! That is Kacie Boguski from The Bachelor!)
