fairy tale wedding

Fairy Tale wedding inspiration

Fairy tale weddings are the epitome of romance. This particular inspiration board was inspired by the drawings from my favorite children’s book illustrator: Kinuko Y. Craft. Her drawings are pure magic and as a child I carried around her edition of The Twelve Dancing Princesses everywhere I went. I can still picture the exact image on every single page – in order! There’s just something transporting about her art – it’s the perfect combination of Renaissance style, romanticism, and fantasy.

K.Y. Craft Cinderella illustration

This fairy tale wedding inspiration board was based on the above illustration from K.Y. Craft’s Cinderella. The gold is reflected throughout the board, the twinkle is mimicked by the spray painted baby’s breath, and I love the way the carriage detailing is mirrored with the Parisian carousel. If there’s ever a time for a fairy tale it’s definitely at your wedding!

  1. You are nothing short of brilliant. I love coming to your blog and finding such fresh ideas. Many think that inspiration is based on other weddings. Here you show a work of art can be inspiration, and then, you go on to explain HOW to look at a piece of art as wedding inspiration. It’s why I love stopping by :-)

  2. Truly magical! Both your gorgeous board and the illustration that inspired it (I can totally see why this captivated you as a child)!

  3. One of my favorite boards yet! (Lovely change up on your blog layout, too!)

  4. This is definitely my new favorite!!! It’s so magical…in a grown-up way! I love the inspiration behind it and how you translated that fairy-tale feeling. The spray-painted baby’s breath is amazing. Do you think it would be weird to incorporate that into my home decor?

  5. that carousel is the epitome of fairy tale wedding along with the the bride/groom leaving a horse drawn carriage ala cinderella. I dont see enough fairy tale-esque style weddings around the Northeast.

  6. So magical and enchanting. Definitely captures a mood. And I love that :)

  8. This reminds me of how much my mom loved this book. I am totally getting this for her birthday. Great job on the board as usual!
