Today’s ‘inside the boutique‘ peek of The White Peony (in Victoria, BC) is an exquisite one. The artful shots by Jenna and Tristan Photography capture the effortless elegance of this gorgeous bridal salon perfectly. And I’ve got to thank Trish, the lovely owner, for taking the time to so thoughtfully answer my questions!
How would you describe a White Peony bride?
“As someone who likes the pretty things in life. A White Peony bride admires quality and design, and appreciates the little details. She has a good sense of self and a love of family. She laughs easily. That’s definitely our bride and the reason we fall for them.”
What is the inspiration behind the styling and design of your bridal boutique?
“I opened the boutique almost a year ago, with my sisters behind me. We set out to create a beautiful space where brides and their parties would feel welcome and be able to linger. We wished to be a smaller, more intimately run boutique that ran by appointment. The shop was designed to have just two dressing rooms, separate from each other, both with great seating areas for the brides’ loved ones.
Our little shop can be found in an early 1900s building with soaring ceilings and original brick walls. It’s pretty, feminine, and a place we love to be.”
What is your favorite style of gown and why do you love it so much?
“I’ve fallen for them all: the gorgeous mermaid, the belle ball gown, and the simple and elegant sheath. Odds are that if it’s pretty and luxurious, I will love it. I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite shape or style, though by and large my eye always does stumble on a romantic, flowing, A-line confection.”
How early should a bride start shopping for her wedding dress? What if she starts late?
“When shopping for a wedding dress, the bride who is hoping to have all her options open and has the time to spend looking should be doing so ideally 6-9 months before the wedding date.
If that’s not the case and instead we have a bride whose wedding is fast approaching, we may to turn to our designers with shorter lead times or can often even sell our sample dresses off the rack.”
What is the best piece of advice you can give a bride right now who is looking for her wedding dress?
“Know yourself. Listen to yourself. Oh, and also love every little minute of this all! The being the bride part, because it’s good fun however fleeting.”
