This custom wedding inspiration board was created for Lauren, who is getting married next fall at a winery near the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.
Lauren wrote and said that she was a huge fan of this sunset inspired wedding inspiration board and said that it was really close to the look that she wanted for her own wedding. However, she needs something a little less rustic and a little more upscale for the winery venue she has picked out (aka: no cowboy boots). She listed a bunch of inspiration boards from this site that she really liked and the most common color among them was lavender. But she also had one in there with blue!
From Lauren – “Your description of my color palette is exactly on point! It’s an outdoor wedding as the ceremony will be overlooking the vineyards and the reception will be held in a tent nearby. I tend to lean towards more of an upscale rustic. I’m not sure I can pull off cowboy boots, but I was quite fond of the burlap elements in the Southern Sunset board.”
With regards to Lauren’s comment on cowboy boots – my advice to brides is to NEVER wear something that you wouldn’t normally wear. If you don’t rock boots on a regular basis, then they have no place at your wedding.
Burlap details are definitely rustic. They’re about as rustic as you can get. A lovely alternative to burlap and one that brings a more upscale vibe is rough spun organic linen. It has a natural flax color, works really well for table linens, and has a beautiful rustic texture and look.
Weathered wood chairs, wine cork place cards, and yarn wrapped flatware are a few more ways to bring earthy textures into your wedding design.
Since Lauren is having a fall wedding, adding some navy blues (in the invitations and floral design) to the purple and lavender palette as well as touches of peach and pinkish corals gives an exquisite seasonality to the color scheme.
