it’s all in the details

Have you picked up the new fall issue of Martha Stewart Weddings yet? I’ve been leafing through mine for about two weeks now and it’s pretty darn amazing.

I found my new favorite book between those glossy pages called Dior Impressions (Dior dresses next to the Impressionist paintings that they were inspired by!) and I’ve earmarked about 20 pages worth of goodies that I’m going to have to edit down later into a Christmas wish list for my husband.

Martha Stewart Weddings Fall 2013 Issue

My favorite feature in this issue of MSW is called ‘It’s All In The Details’ (it IS the style issue after all). 13 unforgettable gowns are highlighted and they all have imaginative designs that use highly specialized techniques. And I feel so blessed because I get to share a few exclusive images from this spread with you here today!

The other dresses in this feature cover beading, sculpting, illusion detailing, lace, re-embroidered lace, seaming, draping, painting, and embroidery. And trust me when I say, just like the gowns you see here – they’re all works of art.

Do have the fall issue of Martha Stewart Weddings yet? It’s on newsstands now & you can download it (with bonus features) to your ipad here.

  1. I loved the rawness of this photo shoot – the bolts of fabric, half swathed mannequins and patterns pieces covering the wall. Of course, I also loved all of the dresses. The last two looked like they could be worn out to a special event and would be beautiful in a variety of colors.

  2. Gorgeous! The layering technique on that Vera Wang dress is just amazing! I would so love to try it on to see what that kind of volume feels like to wear!

  3. Gorgeous! Love all the dresses and the fun details. I’m especially liking the ruffles.

  4. The last dress is FABULOUS!

  5. The Vera Wang “Lorelei” dress is insanely gorgeous! Loving all the texture in the dress!

  6. I always loving curling up with the latest issue–and dog earring the pages full of present ideas!

  7. The applique is really interesting!

  8. Lovely! I keep forgetting to renew my subscription. I’ve got to go get one – a photographer friend of mine took a gorgeous image of a Claire Pettibone gown that’s feature it this issue.

  9. Style issues are always the best. 🙂 I love the gown with the refined ruffles. That is truly spectacular!

  10. Love this article Sara! I recently got engaged and I’ve been frustrated trying to find a unique, trendy dress. Picking up Martha Stewart tomorrow!!
