I’d like to give a big mahalo to Alexandra Elise Photography for the wonderful image she sent for this post. I’ve optimized it for Pinterest…

This post was written in honor of the lovely group of budding entrepreneurs I’ll be speaking to tonight at a university here in Hawaii. I’ve been asked to share my thoughts on social media and blogging with them and I can’t wait!

  1. Hilarious Sara! You hit the nail on the head… oh my goodness… I love this post so much!!!

  2. The optimization to pinterest worked! I’m a proof. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I love it!

  4. This post literally made me LOL.

Maybe if I had more vodka tonics during the day I wouldn’t take this social media stuff so seriously. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. “google โ€˜best Facebook news feed image sizeโ€™” haha these tips are hilarious.

  6. This is hilarious! Love the instagram the vodka tonic you just mixed instead. Haha. (Love this image, too!) I need to step up my social media game, BAD! I usually don’t do any of these things – eek!

  7. Yes! You had me on googling how to use Google+! I’ve also tried to carefully tag someone in Pinterest only to have it bring in some random person’s name, and I assume that person is beyond confused about why I’m harassing them about a bouquet of flowers. Ahhh social media – such fun!

  8. Seriously, I couldn’t stop laughing. LOVED this post!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. That’s brilliant… I hope to god you don’t go through half of that though ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Check, check and check! This post is amaze-balls.

  11. Hahah day made.

  12. OMG this is so funny!!!!! Thank you for sharing this!!!!! xo

  13. This is definitely some of my days, Sara! I laughed!

  14. Ridiculously funny Sara – and so true!

  15. So glad it’s not just me! Brilliant post.

  16. This post made my day! This is eerily similar to my daily routine, except I’m not nearly that tech savvy and my day probably includes a lot more cat petting. Good luck speaking tonight at the university!

  17. I can definitely relate to a lot of this. Especially the delete, re-post stuff.

  18. LOL! So on point! Google is my ‘Social Media for Dummies’ guide when disaster looms ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. This is all soooo true! Love it!

  20. Love it! So true and a great summary of the groundhog day we repeatedly live!

  21. You’re spot on Sara! So funny too! Loved how you captured the weekly social media grind (I don’t post more than 1-2 times a week for now)…can’t imagine how I’ll deal when I get to the point of doing it on a daily basis. Hire an assistant maybe?? LOL ๐Ÿ˜‰

  22. You’re a riot. This is so true, though I never make it past about step two of this madness. But this is probably why you’re so good at social media. I vote one poetry post a week from now on. It can be a haiku if you want – at least that’s short ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. Haha. So true *furiously googles everything you’ve said* ๐Ÿ˜‰

  24. You are brilliant. I am embarrassed to say that I have been guilty of a few of those gaffes, particularly the “switch to profile page and like vendors”bit ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. Right?! Using social media effectively is like doing your taxes…needlessly %#*&ing complicated!

  26. I read this post on my phone yesterday and literally laughed out loud at a crowded Starbucks. Thanks for a light-hearted take on something that sometimes (often) makes me feel super overwhelmed and inept!

  27. OMG, this is AWESOME! You’ve completely nailed it, except you’re way better at all of this than I could ever hope to be. My favorite part was about Oliver, of course (being the crazy cat lady that I am). Now I have to check out this Hummningbird thing…xo

  28. Haha! I love it!(: This is so true. It seems like social networking takes much more time than actual creative work. How much time do you use to promote your posts? Would it be 50/50 or more?

    Thank you!
    Yelena

    • I’d say I actually spend more time on content… at least in my case it’s more of a 60/ 40 or some days even 70/30! I think if your content isn’t worth promoting first – then what’s the point? xx

  29. just found this blog and am IN LOVE. I thought I was the only one struggling with the madness that is social media. Looking forward to digging deeper into your archives!
