From Tara of Roots of Life Photography – “Joanna, of Joanna B Artistry came to me with a desire to style & design a strikingly unique bridal inspiration shoot for the individualistic bride that loves soft silhouettes & striking features. She wanted it to feel moody, dark, texturally evocative & unlike anything we have seen before. Together we streamlined the concept, came up with a vision board & worked with like-minded vendors who really understood our vision. Our rich color scheme of: burgundy, Marsala, rich Pinot Noir, lush greens, lilac & royal purple flowed throughout all of the design elements of the shoot!”
From Tara of Roots of Life Photography – “In trying to find a venue space, we immediately thought of RM Champagne & Nellcote (both fabulously chic restaurants located in the West Loop of Chicago). They are right next to each other (same owners) and we were lucky enough to be able to use both spaces. We wanted to create a dreamy allure while staying modern and glamorous & these spaces provided just that.
The incredible fireplace at RM Champagne was the perfect backdrop for our models. We wanted to incorporate a dark, almost Gothic twist & kept the look edgy. The space at Nellcote provided a lovely juxtaposition against the luxurious details we used to dress the space. Sarah Plovanich, stylist extraordinaire, incorporated texture, color, mixed metals & unique elements to create an almost old estate or haunted mansion feel. She used found antiques from her own personal collection as well as a Gothic candelabrum; brass candle holders & a stunning draped fruit display to set the romantic tone of the event. Her unique place setting & crystal glassware from A Careful Peach complete the bohemian Gothic tablescape.
Tori of Fragrant Design brought everything to the next level with her floral. The arrangement on the table-scape is pure heaven. My favorite floral element is the hanging amaranth coming out of the brass pitcher. Tori used a beautiful mixture of peonies, scrub icy, nandina, ranunculus, chocolate willow, & ornamental berries to dress the space.”
From Tara of Roots of Life Photography – “Can we talk about that incredible sweets table by Toni Cox of Toni Patisiere? Her naked chocolate cake with raspberry filling with floral embellishments really took center stage. She also incorporated macaroons, linzer cookies and a chocolate dipped cookie in our color scheme to add dimension to the table. The plates, mini forks, display vessels & silver candelabra pulled everything together in such a lovely way.
Our signature cocktail, the Solstice 75 from RM Champagne, (available on their menu) is a light & refreshing blend of eucalyptus & black pepper infused Aviation Gin, Cassis & Cava. Simply delicious & perfect for a bohemian Gothic affair!”
From Tara of Roots of Life Photography – “Joanna did a spectacular job of styling our models, using the Nolita, Wilde, Mon Cheri & Amour gowns from Sarah Seven. The rich colors against the bride’s milky skin look almost forbidden yet mesmerizing. The sparkling headpieces gave our blonde model a bohemian vibe & Alisa Brides incredible veils gave her an old-world, romantic feel with a texturally evocative ambiance. The edges of Alisa’s shorter veils are gorgeous & perfect for the bride who wants to add a classic & timeless element to her bridal look. Our boudoir vignette showcases this perfectly. The dreamy wallpaper, hand mirror, lovely floral arrangement & unique rings create a vintage bohemian French or Italian feel.
To complete the look, Joanna had this to say:
‘I was inspired by the elegance of the Sarah Seven Gowns & Alisa Brides veils, and wanted to add an edgy twist to the look. I think it brought the overall concept together in a very trendy way. The girls fresh dewy skin mixed with the bold pop of color on the lips created an overall bohemian Gothic look. I used MAC lipstick in Media to achieve the look.’
Lastly, our stationary suite, created & curated by Sarah Plovanich, set the tone for our bohemian Gothic soiree. The laser-cut invitation is a unique & emerging trend. The black elements, wispy font & gray Mrs. Box are a fun way to interpret the theme of the shoot. Both rings are family heirlooms from Tara & Sarah.”
