Rustic chic is a fabulous direction for an outdoor wedding that effortlessly combines country with feminine. Petals by Cary and U Me Us Studios created the perfect vision of rustic chic wedding style with this editorial shoot in Sonoma, California!
From Cary Li of Petals by Cary – “A visit to Sonoma’s General Daughter’s was truly a treat; the 1864 Victorian Home was everything to be loved. The white paneling exterior, with wooden patio and gazebo overhangs accented with greenery and side fountain was the complement to our rustic table. Centered with wooden lanterns, our farm table was filled with white puffy hydrangea and roses in our chubby jars. We decided to use Juliet garden roses with its unique buttercup petal works and its unique color, with scabiosa flowers and pods as blooms for textures and variation of eucalyptus and rosemary to drape across the table. Cabbages and white stocks were incorporated into our oversized bouquet with matching Juliet roses, ranunculus and scabiosa.
For the table settings from Bright Event Rentals, we handpicked the 10 oz. highball and 6 oz. water tumbler with the bee designs to match our rustic theme. We paired them with the Rosewood stemware, the 12” gold rim hammered glass dinner plates and the 7.5” clear glass plates, all set on the beautiful Calistoga wood dining table with matching oak bistro wicker chairs.”
Cary Li of Petals by Cary – “Our bride, Kristin, wore the ARIA V-neck wedding dress in a fitted mermaid silhouette by Tak Hau from Alifa Wong Beauty and Bridal Boutique. This beautiful gown features an alluring low back design, with scalloped edges around neckline, armholes and hem of dress. The ivory embroidered lace and champagne satin lining added a romantic feel overall.
Hair and makeup stylist, Christina Chen of Makeup by Quis, went with free-flowing curls to match the organic feel of the tablescape. To complement the lace mermaid dress, we wanted the overall look to be something a little more laid back and “relaxed.” To soften the bride’s look, we took away the bottom liner and matched her lips with a nude color.
‘Simplicity with a charm’ is what inspired our rustic stationery. We wanted to achieve a countryside feel by incorporating as many natural textures and imagery as we could. Trees, twine, and wood are elements that we chose to focus on to give this a relaxed feel. We also chose a slightly darker paper stock to emphasize this, while keeping the font choices very simple with a pop of color. We loved bringing in different textural elements to give this suite a layered look.”
Cary Li of Petals by Cary – “For the desserts, we went with cupcakes to tie in with the rustic chic look. We envisioned warm, feminine, romantic and polished with the blush color tone; but also raw and rustic with the environment around us. The two combined are the perfect combination! We wanted the cupcakes to have that same feel. The metallic liners, and accents added an edge to the cupcakes. The lace and sugar flowers helped soften the look by adding a feminine element. We topped some of the cupcakes with ‘i do’s’ and hearts to incorporate the love shared at weddings. As for the flavors, we kept it simple; champagne and vanilla are both a MUST when it comes to a wedding, and we topped the cupcakes with Pink Champagne frosting, light blush quilted fondant, vanilla buttercream and filled them with strawberry puree.
We added a lounge area outside in the courtyard with a chateau sofa and a wooden storage trunk as a side table for the lovely florals to create the rustic vintage feel.”
