From Jordan at Smitten Events – “Downton Abbey has long been a source of inspiration for us. Every episode is so rich in stunning detail of a luxurious time long past, it’s hard not to fall in love with the show! With the final season set to premiere in January we produced a Downton-inspired wedding creative to highlight some of the things we love most about the series.”
From Jordan at Smitten Events – “Our styling for this wedding inspiration was classic and clean with a few modern touches. We set an antique table with heirloom pieces inspired by the Crawley’s daily dinner parties and the romantic, all-white floral arrangements look as if they could have come from the English gardens at Downton. With a nod to Lady Mary’s wedding, our bride wore a lace, long-sleeved gown with a mantilla-style veil and jeweled headpiece, and carried an oversized bouquet of white roses, dahlias, ranunculus and garden greenery. Some of our favorite elements were the exquisite cake with intricate lace fondant, chiffon-threaded Charivari chairs and a pretty paper backdrop featuring the lyrics of a favorite love song.
Our location for this shoot was Quail’s Landing, a home turned wedding venue perched on a hill overlooking acres of golden vineyards and Lake Okanagan in Summerland, BC. Although the day of our shoot was ridiculously windy – the candles would not light, each and every piece of glassware had to be glued to the table, the stationery would not stay in place and the veil took on a mind of its own – our fabulous team of Okanagan-based vendors produced something we think even the Dowager Countess of Grantham would approve of!”
