From Mandy Forlenza Sticos – “Styling for Social Media was a 2 hour mini workshop on at QNS Collective in Astoria, Queens New York. I enjoyed planning the workshop and gathering sponsors but most of all sharing my 15+ years of professional experience in marketing and creative direction and styling for events!”
From Mandy Forlenza Sticos – “Creative entrepreneurs gathered to learn key formulas to help create and style original content for social media. Guests enjoyed a 1 hour slide show presentation with Q+A followed by 1 hour of hands-on practice with a variety of props and a flower and greenery bar by Blooms by the Box; where guests picked and cut flowers they wanted for photos.
We rounded out the afternoon with some networking among sweet treats from Macaron Cafe, Indigo Jones Eats and Mini Brownie. Every attendee received a packed sponsor gift bag and a take away card with tips + tricks to remember while styling.
For a few of those tips to help you style your own stunning images for social media be sure to read on!”
Go Natural: Use natural daylight when taking photos and stay away from set filters. Select a good editing app that can adjust brightness and shadows.
Odd Numbers: Photograph items in threes, fives or even sevens. Odd numbers tend to be more visually interesting.
Minus One: When done creating a vignette, take one item away. Capture the set up both ways; less is sometimes more in social media posts.
Consistency: Keep your stream consistent in tone. People are following your account because they like your aesthetic so don’t go too off your normal path.
Unique Content: Strive to create original content. Do not copy the work of others. Do not fill your stream with “regrams”; unless it’s a project you were involved in.
