autumnal steampunk wedding in italy

From Eliana Collu of O Nice Event & Wedding Planning “The style and character of the engaged couple we used as models gave us the inspiration for this editorial – we wanted to showcase his hard rock soul and her bohemian spirit and found the perfect union in a Steampunk wedding.”

From Eliana Collu of O Nice Event & Wedding Planning – “A small villa on the Oggiono Lake won us over with its cozy and intimate garden and a magnificent persimmon tree. A little greenhouse and an old church completed the venue!

As far the design went – at first we played strictly with Steampunk elements such as gears, clocks, iron & copper, leather & brass, but then we led the style towards a more romantic and less industrial interpretation.”

“Delicate pale pinks and sage colors found balance through the old hammers, gears, and other rough materials. The lightness of flowers and fruits harmonized with the bits of iron and pewter. We marked the setting with clocks, a distinctive detail in the Steampunk style. Sky, clouds, and flight were other elements we incorporated with the motto: ‘love is in the air.’

The ‘mise en place’ combines Victorian romance with laces and finely decorated tableware along with Steampunk industrial strength expressed through iron placeholders, thistle flowers, and centerpieces that used pewter jugs.”

“As for the wedding dress we moved away from the Steampunk wedding stereotypes that typically show aviator hats, leather, and corsets and preferred a soft, ‘cloudy’ skirt. The shoes, however, were a pair of leather boots that represented the character of the bride and defined the style of the wedding. For the groom we decided on simple and classic attire to allow his rock-exotic physical features to shine.”
