From Petronella Photography – “I came up with this idea for a multicultural Cinderella at Dhara Dhevi editorial to encourage all ladies to travel, see new places, explore different cultures and to live life-like it’s an adventure.
Creating this editorial was quite an adventure: hustling and roaming around Chiang Mai looking for flowers, props, negotiating with a tuk-tuk driver, all in the humid Thai weather, but the memories created with a team of talented ladies will forever stay with me. There is LIFE, adventure, beauty & growth in the meantime. With or without a Prince Charming!”
From Petronella Photography – “This is the story of a modern-day Cinderella, who receives a calligraphy invite on a banana leaf to not only attend a grand ball, but to spend two days in a colonial suite exploring the magical, enchanted Dhara Dhevi in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
With the help of her fairy godmother, she is transformed into the belle of the ball in a diamond encrusted bustier ball gown.
As she leaves for the ball, her fairy godmother shares some wisdom: ‘have courage & be kind’ with the words calligraphed on a banana leaf & gives her a lucky purple floral elephant. In Thailand, the elephant is an important cultural symbol of good fortune.”
Instead of a horse and carriage, Cinderella arrives in an orchid floral decorated old school tuk-tuk (a 3 wheeled vehicle driven by a Thai driver on bicycle) and begins exploring the enchanted 60 acre palace designed to celebrate the historic Northern Thai Lanna kingdom.”
“The next morning she wakes up and continues to explore the Dhara Dhevi and is greeted by Sarawut & his water buffalo and has several adventures along the way as she explores the enchanted 60 acre palace designed to celebrate the historic Northern Thai Lanna kingdom.
She’s amazed by the gorgeous ancient palace-like architecture and traditional Lanna-style architecture. She stops by the famous Dhara Dhevi Cake Shop to pick up some rainbow-colored macarons, which match the rainbow-colored orchids that adorn her tuk-tuk.”
During her final night, she continues to explore the Dhara Dhevi wearing a high neck Chinese qipao red lace dress, an homage to her French – Chinese heritage!”
