‘pop up’ wedding day after session

From Rachel Buckley Weddings “Alexandra and Wes have a unique story in that they have had a long distance relationship for the majority of their engagement. Wes is located stateside running a stand up paddleboard company in New England while Alexandra, a dual citizen, is studying for her masters in Sweden.

While the plan was always to lean towards the non-traditional, they took it a step further; while Alexandra was back in the states for the summer, and sort of on a last-minute whim, they decided to turn their engagement party into a ‘pop up’ wedding!”

“Emotions ran high as a small group of their closest family and friends gathered for a welcome speech that resulted in the grand entrance of the bride and groom. The outpouring of joy, the tears and laughter, gasps and cheers were everything Wes and Alexandra wanted for their wedding day.

While the last-minute surprise wedding was perfect, the bride and groom still wanted to be able to capture those personalized details that a more traditional wedding would provide. A day after session was a perfect solution and, before Alexandra hopped on a flight back to Sweden, we convened at a private beach, hidden on the other side of a mountain, in mid-coast Maine. A spot they return to every summer for a get-away.”

“Alexandra’s contemporary BCBG wedding dress set the tone for the session’s style…simple and fresh. The softness of the beach and light stone of the mountain was a perfect backdrop for the bright, airy design of the photo shoot. Inspiration for the structure of the modern cascading bouquet came from the geometric lines and seaming on the dress.

Wes’s custom suit jacket and custom designed ring were influenced by his days spent on the water. A mix and match invitation suite, sent out for guests attending a small reception back in Sweden, and the celebratory champagne was a tribute to Alexandra’s heritage and the couple’s international lifestyle.”
