two for tea, please

Afternoon tea, known as ‘low tea’ involves things like manners, lace, and dainty foods. ‘High tea’ was traditionally a working class meal served at the end of the work day, shortly after 5pm. It was a heavy meal with lots of meats and baked goods (think: steak and kidney pie). Legend has it that afternoon tea was started in the mid-1800s by the Duchess of Bedford who found herself with a “sinking feeling” during the long wait between meals. She invited some friends over for assorted snacks and tea and the custom soon spread across the UK as a favorite pastime of ladies of leisure.

  1. What a lovely way to use a tea cup, especially if you don’t like tea! 🙂

  2. I adore the tea cup bracelets, an excellent gift idea.

    • I have one – it’s fun to wear but you have to be REALLY careful about slamming your wrist down on the table and things like that. I’m not the most graceful person in the world so I bought it expecting to chip it!

  3. I am HEAD OVER HEELS in LOVE with that dress! I want to take it home and twirl around for hours in front of the mirror with it like when I was 5!

Where can I find this dress and does it come in white km. I looked for it using the link provided for credit, but cannot find it.

    • Aloha! As far as I’ve been able to tell from hours of hunting for this source of this image it was a vintage dress that sold on Etsy years ago.

Oh no! It’s exactly what I’m looking for, but I need it in white. I’ll check on etsy and see what I can find. Thank you!

        • Good luck! You might want to see about a custom gown maybe? I’m sure someone could get this look made for you!
