Heather of Simply Designed was kind enough to not only send us pictures of some amazing, urban chic inspired save the dates, but also a few tips!

“Save the Dates. When is the right time to send them, and are they a required part of your stationery package? They aren’t a requirement (sigh of relief!), but they can be really helpful – particularly if your wedding will take place on a holiday, out of town for most guests, or is a destination wedding and your guests can reserve that date on their calendars. Your Save the Dates should be mailed out 6-8 months before the wedding, 8 months is more of a standard time frame. Anything less than six months before your wedding, I would advice skipping the save the dates, saving some money, and sending your invites out a little bit earlier. The best piece of advice I can offer when working on your save the date, is find your stationery designer, website, store, and work with them all the way through for your invitation package. This will set the tone and keep everything feeling consistent.

 What to include on your Save the Dates:

1. The city your wedding is taking place in

2. Your names and dates (I know this seems simple, but you would be surprised how many times we get information and this part is omitted)

3. Your wedding website (if you have one)

4. State that a formal invitation will follow.”
