Bougainvillea are quite possibly the most underutilized flower in the wedding industry and I can’t figure out why! I adore them.
Today’s bridal inspiration shoot from Hazel Buckley Photography and Flower Talk uses these gorgeous blooms in truly unique ways – from the groom’s bougainvillea bow tie to the bride’s spectacular floral accessories.
The overcast weather and neutral palette of the wedding dress & beach setting in this shoot really allows the hot pink bougainvillea to pop along with the red roses in the bride’s bouquet. And of course Flower Talk’s use of creeper vine to craft a whimsical anklet for the bride is absolutely genius!

Hot pink bougainvillea… say no more… ILOVE IT!!!
Incredibly gorgeous! Bougainvillea is my latest obsession, so I’m dying over this, of course. I especially love the anklet.
I totally agree with what you said- bougainvillea is underutilized! A few years ago, I had actually planned to use it for my wedding but we had to switch to another flower due to timing. It is very plentiful in the Caribbean so I really wish more couples could appreciate its potential. Hopefully, they will, by seeing inspiration like this. Also love the anklet!
It’s all over the place here in Hawaii too – and yet I never see it used in weddings here! It definitely needs to be!
I am absolutely in love with this inspiration shoot. Love the bright pops of color from the flowers, the crown, the anklet…just the entire thing!!
Gorgeous bouquet! Her dress is amazing, too….fabulous overcast skies…so pretty.
Being we have some growing in our yards and even roadsides here in Naples, Fl…..I totally appreciate this & agree it is underutilized….LOVE IT!
Flower shoes!
This is the prettiest thing we’ve seen all week and that dress is… STUNNING!
Bougainvillea was my dad’s favorite flower – I always have such a soft spot for it. Using it as the pop of color against her ivory gown and the sand was genius!
That fuchsia color is just jumping off the screen – i love to see such a bold use of color in such an unexpected place – the natural beige tones in the scenery provides such a great contrast.
Wow! Amazing to see it not only as a bouquet but shoes and a crown as well! Beautiful!
I LOVE bougainvillea – this is such a beautiful use of it!
Wow…so pretty!
I love all the ways in which the bougainvilleas were used, from the groom’s bow tie to the very sweet foot piece the bride wore. Gorgeous! If only we were located near water, we’d have fabulous shoots like this one!
So stunning! Those colors in the florals are amazing!
I’m looking for this dress, can anyone help?
