In my other life I want to be a florist so I can learn how to create complete magic like today’s botanical inspired shoot from Anne Robert Photography.
With some of the most incredibly romantic floral design ever from Holly Chapple & gorgeous vintage details from Something Vintage Rentals – this shoot isn’t just an inspiration shoot – it’s an attempt to breathe new life into an abandoned Virginia mansion that during its heyday used to host some of the prettiest weddings around.
Despite being abandoned for over a decade, Selma Mansion is still breathtakingly beautiful. I just adore how Holly utilized the piano she found still there – filling it with flowers from her own garden and local growers.
From Holly Chapple – “I was 25 years old when I did my first wedding at Selma Plantation… it was very moving to sweep out the dust and bring the pretty back into the house. I seriously had flashbacks in the mansion – I could remember hanging garlands on the grand staircase 20 years ago…”

This was such a beautiful shoot. I loved everything about it and especially the location. That “house” is magnificent and I only wish I could be the one to restore it and live there. We can dream can’t we?
Isn’t it gorgeous? I want to live there too – even if it’s not restored!
I am in love with this inspiration and those gorgeous gowns! The florals are amazing too!
There’s something so carelessly English about this – like one of those planted and forgotten gardens that’s amazing.
Totally speechless. This is definitely my new favorite shoot! I can’t get over that flower-filled piano. Holly Chapple is brilliant.
She is!
Love seeing Virginia awesomeness! I have to agree that the floral-filled piano is pretty epicly gorgeous. Oh, be still my old, old soul heart!
I’m dying. These are stunning! AND THOSE DRESSES!!!! lovely.
oh my. i am obsessed with this! so, so so incredibly gorgeous.
This mansion is only a few miles from where I live! I must investigate!
This shoot may or may not have moved me to tears. It is truly one of the most exquisite styled shoots I have ever seen. What an inspiration!
You and me both! The story behind is just so… wow.
What a beautiful shoot! I love all the different chairs and the unique mansion is the perfect setting. But the flowers are drop dead gorgeous!!
The patina of the peeling paint and aged touches adds so much to this, and the jaw-dropping flowers and the dresses could not be more perfect for this setting. I’m giving everyone who worked on this a standing ovation from my living room right now!
Absolutely inspiring! loving the little bits of color throughout in the floral design!
Beautiful shoot. Love all the pretty details.
This is something out of this world, the flowers are incredible!!! Also, I LOVE Anne, she is without a doubt an amazing photographer and a beautiful person inside out!!! <3
Wow! Just Wow! Someone needs to buy that mansion and get it up an running for events! Love it!
Wow, this is beautiful! All of it!
I have to say this is one of my favorite shoots ever. The amount of detail and creativity is incredible! Amazing work by all involved!
These are gorgeous. I need to find me an abandoned mansion to take photos in. Lovely work–flowers and photos.
Looking back at the pictures, even though it is not a true couple I am oddly emotional, proprietary to such an exquisite day creating such beauty with true friends..
I can see why – this has to be one of my favorite shoots of all time!
The flowers in the piano?!! Such an incredible shoot!
I love love this!!!! The dresses, the place, the flowers, the invitation, the mixed matched chair… it’s pure inspiration! When i grow up i want to make beautiful things like this and own a house like that surrounded with flowers everywhere! 🙂
This is one of my favorite inspiration shoots ever! I really love the juxtaposition of the beautiful wedding details against the aged and abandoned mansion. Truly exquisite!
I love the flowers!!
Wow. I want to live there, and have all these amazing florals around all the time!
