With the Ku’u Lei inspiration shoot series we visited the city first, then the mountains, and so of course we had to round it out with a trip to one of Hawaii’s famed beaches.
Despite the gray skies and rain, today’s tropical bridal session inspiration shoot (conceptualized and shot by Chelsea of Bit of Ivory Photography) is absolutely breathtaking!
Shilhi of Passion Roots free-handed an exquisite floral headpiece for our beautiful model, Sarah, and the bright pops of color looked absolutely fantastic against the neutral palette of the sea and sand. We spray painted a pineapple a brilliant turquoise hue as an ode to the ocean and Sarah danced a little hula for us along the beach. It was a magical day and a magical shoot!

I think the gray skies actually add to the beauty of this shoot. I’m dying over the floral crown and the turquoise pineapple. Magnificent all around!
The floral crown is divine and I’m loving how the turquoise pineapple contrasts so nicely with the scenery!
The detailed beading on that gown is just lovely. And who couldn’t do with a turquoise pineapple 🙂
The floral crown is amazing!
The dress and florals are INCREDIBLE and that pineapple just makes everything pop! Love it!
Sarah was just absolutely perfect! And that floral crown of Shilhi’s and the photobombing island! No words. <3
Holy cow, this is beautiful! I especially love the turquoise pineapple. Where can I find one?
We actually just spray painted a real pineapple 😀
genius!
So awesome!!! Love it!! XO!
That headpiece + that blue pineapple! I’m totally in love!
Dude. Blue pineapple for the win.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful…three of them for all 3 of these amazing shoots you guys did. Bravo! I want in on the next ones 😉
Thank you, Steph!! <3
I’d say the gray skies are a great backdrop to the vibrant florals. Fantastic job on these three fab shoots!
Had so much fun creating the floral headpiece and these photos… Amazing!!!
Would you just look at that dress?! Great job Chelsea! Beautiful photography, great styling – just awesome job all the way around 🙂
This is exactly what I envision as the perfect Hawaiian island style. I’m just in awe of that turquoise pineapple and the floral crown! Amazing styling and photography, Chelsea! Congrats to you and Sara on this amazing series !
I’m not sure how much I can contain my excitement over the floral crown, it’s gorgeous.
I can’t help it – I adore that floral headpiece! I never knew I could fall in love with a floral vendor when I’m not even in the market for a wedding – but everything from Passion Roots is just BEYOND gorgeous. I’m not kidding…I am so mesmerized I keep staring at that second picture from the top. (And of course I love your turquoise pineapple…can ya ship me one of those?) 😉
Isn’t it amazing? Shilhi is an artist!
