Whimsical pink weddings are always a dream and that’s exactly what Anna Gleave Photography captured here today with this adorable watercolor wedding inspiration shoot! Anna and Cydney of Stiletto Events collaborated on this editorial with the help of some wonderfully talented creatives to bring it to life.
From Anna Gleave Photography – “I grew up learning how to paint – my grandmother teaching me in the backyard during spring afternoons. I quickly fell in love with the art form and explored various mediums before settling on watercolor. I adore the free-flowing, dreamy nature of watercolor. It has a happiness and airiness to it that evokes sunshine and joy, which is the perfect inspiration for a wedding!
For this shoot we were also inspired by these words: ‘I have no interest in the dark and gloomy. To me, the delight of watercolor is in capturing the light within the white paper by surrounding it with successive washes of transparent color.’ – Jean Grastorf.”
From Anna – “We wanted to create a unique, drenched-in-pink watercolor inspired wedding for art lovers and artists alike, so we picked the historic Manor House in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains as our venue. It’s easy to picture this place as any artist’s dream retreat and to imagine painters stationed out in the fields, painting the gorgeous surroundings.
Our details were infused with an ivory-to-pink ombre, a bit of whimsy, and of course lots and lots of watercolor. One of the highlights of this shoot is the bride’s gown – it was custom-made for us and Maggie Evans hand-painted her design to mimic our other elements.”
“The cake was handcrafted to pull in various elements of the shoot and FUN FACT: Rachel of Intricate Icings was recently named one of the top cake designers in the country by Martha Stewart Weddings! The ombre pink ribbons on the cake were completed with a stitched pattern as a nod to the bridal gown and the cascading sugar flowers were inspired by the floral components of the shoot.
The legs of the chairs were dipped in pink paint by Chairished Vintage to continue with the ombre effect and her giant paper flowers were used as a ceremony backdrop. Oakes Fields used peonies, tulips and watercolor dripped ranunculus in the bridal bouquet and centerpieces. The incredible Sarah Nightengale designed the invitations to go with our watercolor theme and Stiletto Events crafted the perfect painted canvas place cards and guest book for our inspiration shoot. The guest book allows loved ones to try their hand at watercolor!”
