I know I use the word epic a lot but today it’s TOTALLY called for. Bubbles inspired this epic wedding editorial by Melissa Kruse Photography and Diana Tsao Events and it’s one of the most well-executed wedding inspiration shoots I’ve ever seen!
From start to finish the quirky & fun source of inspiration is woven throughout in seamless and thoughtful ways. It carries from the vintage tub filled with bubbles for the bride to play with while she gets ready to the bubble shaped beads on her stunning Galia Lahav dress, to the wedding cake shape, paper designs and beyond. Truly, it’s so inspirational – you’re going to adore it!
Melissa Kruse, Diana Tsao and their creative team had a fabulous time playing on the word bubble – from literal interpretations to more conceptual ones. With a fresh and modern color palette of blue, mint, purples and grey, circular shapes played a large role in the execution of this editorial.
The jewelry featured a round bubble engagement ring and pearl strands (which can be also seen in the detailing on the wedding dress) and the hairstyle was created to invoke an airy feeling for both the bride model’s ceremony and reception looks. Bright orange lipstick gave the look a modern twist along with pink Louboutins and a cute heart tank to get ready in – all layered with a kimono and cashmere sweater.
For the floral design the groom wore a thistle boutonnière and poppies pods can be seen in the bride’s bouquet. Air plants and succulents were scattered throughout for a modern look and fiddle head ferns adorned the ceremonial arch and reception table – both of which carried on the airy, circular theme.
The paper goods were hand fed into a vintage Vandercook letterpress machine and menus in a unique circular shape were also created for this shoot. For the ceremony sendoff – what could be better than bubbles?!
A custom, hand-blown bubble glass chandelier created the perfect centerpiece statement for the reception table and there were also polka dot plates and glassware in navy blue, blush and sky blue.
The bubble tea drinks, round ice cubes and champagne ‘bubble bar’ are genius additions to this shoot and even the catering went along with the bubble theme. Round salmon roe, pearl tapioca, radish discs and circular arrangements of bok choy leaves were used. The cake included hand painted bubble patterns in watercolor and a round tier covered in edible pearls, embossed circular patterns and the top tier detailing reached for the sky – just like bubbles!
Bubble gumball-filled champagne glasses cushioned with bubble wrap and presented in dot-patterned gift boxes served as wedding favors and the bride and groom even blew bubbles during their portrait session.
A final little factoid for you: the wedding date of July 27th was the day bubble gum was patented, back in 1869!
