Karl and Kathleen’s dreamy engagement session is bursting with luscious purple hues, hugs, and sweet kisses. Photographed beautifully by Marissa Kay Photography, these images are magical and mesmerizing. Be sure to read Kathleen’s darling engagement story at the end of this post – and take a peek at Kooji – their adorable pooch!
From Marissa Kay Photography – “Karl and Kathleen wanted a very natural, romantic aesthetic for their engagement session. We started the shoot in Old Town Temecula to get some shots with their dog, Kooji, and then headed to the Santa Rosa Plateau which is an absolutely gorgeous setting. With the help of tall grasses I was able to create the romantic feeling that the couple was going for.”
From Kathleen – “Karl and I met in college through a mutual friend. Our love for each other has always been easy, but our situation has not. Being both in the military, the majority of our relationship has been spent apart. Our relationship has withstood separate trainings as well as a six-month deployment overseas. However, with each obstacle, we have only grown stronger and cannot picture our lives without each other!
In December of 2012 Karl took me to Ocean Beach in San Diego to watch the sunset. We took a walk a walk along the pier with our beloved pooch, Kooji and there, in front of bystanders and the setting sun he dropped to one knee and said, ‘Kathleen, will you marry me?’ I was completely taken by surprise and of course I said yes! I was even more surprised when both of our families and a few of my closest friends appeared out of nowhere and had captured the entire moment on camera!”

Between her dress and the corgi, I’m in love!
Oh my goodness, these two (and their pup) are beyond adorable! And how you can you not love a double military couple?! A big congrats and thank you to them both!
This session is so lovely. Her dress and boots, and hat, are perfect. And of course you know I love the doggy. But their story is the best. LOVE it!
