There are a million and one reasons to have a destination wedding on the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia – the ocean is spectacular, the sunsets are epic, it’s utterly romantic and totally extraordinary. The resorts are beyond gorgeous and while Chelsea of Bit of Ivory Photography and I were there on our recent press trip (more on that here) we were lucky enough to attend at editorial wedding at one such resort – Cap Maison.
Cap Maison is one of those once-in-a-lifetime places. The luxurious, three story villas with rooftop pools are out of this world and whole place has a sophisticated charm I just couldn’t get enough of. Chelsea and I were lucky enough to stay there for a couple of nights right at the beginning of our trip and we adored it. Everyone was friendly, the place was spectacular, the food was delicious, the beds comfortable, and the views – breathtaking!
Cap Maison is set on a jaw-dropping cliff-top and is conveniently located to popular spots, yet still secluded and tranquil. The Cliff at Cap Restaurant is divine (don’t skip the duck comfit) and for beachside bites be sure to check out The Naked Fisherman (and yes – sipping wine under one of their thatched cabanas is as delightful as it sounds).
It’s super easy to get married in Saint Lucia – there’s no residency period so you can have your tropical wedding and start your honeymoon right afterwards.
Some practicalities to obtain your marriage license upon arrival in Saint Lucia:
– Valid Passport
– Divorce Decree (if an applicant has been divorced – note that you should bring the original or a certified copy)
– A Death Certificate (in case of a widow / widower)
– A Deed Poll (if an applicant’s name has been changed)
– An authenticated translation in addition to the originals if required documents are not in English.
Be sure to pop by next week for even more beauty from this magical, gem of an island – Saint Lucia!
