A thing of beauty is a joy forever: Its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness; but still will keep a bower quiet for us, and a sleep full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing. – Endymion (1818) by John Keats.
From NamaNama – “When it turns winter in the Netherlands, shooting outside in summery bridal gowns is not really an option. Therefore, I was beyond excited when the photographer, ruudC Fotografie, showed me the images of this stunning 1890s mansion, currently a showroom for modern interior design, called Loft 76. I was instantly head-over-heels with the gorgeous stairway, the stained glass window, stunning detailed ornaments and the small attic that showed the signs of wear and tear, giving us a hint about the life of days gone by. I felt it was the perfect setting for a timeless bridal portrait session featuring a classic Belle Époque and Edwardian look (the 1st and 2nd dress respectively).
Although vintage dresses and bridal looks from the 20s (Great Gatsby)-70s (bohemian) are often used as a source of inspiration for modern brides aspiring to a vintage look, Edwardian and especially the Belle Époque era are lesser known and sought after. I think it is a real pity as dresses from this era are extraordinary and show true craftsmanship. Therefore I want to inspire brides to consider a Belle Époque / Edwardian look for their wedding by showing them how graceful and timeless these dresses are!
I love how the old and the new can perfectly co-exist and how each element can enhance the beauty of the other, taking it to the next level: a perfect synergy, illustrating how ‘A thing of beauty is a joy forever.”
From NamaNama – “My shop began with the intention to sell vintage pieces that are in great condition but fit in contemporary life as well. I carefully select the wedding gowns of NamaNama for their subtle beauty and divine fabrics, very often covered with gorgeous floral patterns. As a bride, you really don’t need much more than this to shine. And there is something about these dresses, a story that they tell, a secret they carry with them, that makes them so special. As a bride you become a part of, and allow that story to continue.”
