David and Albert’s Maui lawn wedding captured by Anna Kim Photography couldn’t have been any more perfect. These two allowed the natural beauty of the venue (really, how can you compete with a Maui oceanfront landscape?!) to shine through and designed and styled their wedding around it, incorporating organic materials and lots of lush greenery. Not only was their wedding beautiful, but their story is too! Be sure to catch David’s words below.
From David – “ It definitely was love at first sight! Albert and I have been together for over 17 years now and we will always remember how we met while playing for a softball league. A mutual friend introduced us and the rest is history.
We both knew we wanted to get married and already talked about planning a wedding. On New Year’s Eve 2014, we decided to stay home and make a fantastic meal for just us two…that’s when Albert popped the question. It was perfect. Yet one more reason to celebrate the New Year!
Hawaii is one of our favorite vacation spots and we make it a point to travel to the islands at least once a year. We fell in love with the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort and knew that would be the perfect location for our wedding.”
“We wanted something classic yet masculine. We looked at many websites and blogs for ideas and inspiration and we ended up with our own style and color palette. Since we were in Hawaii, we felt we didn’t need to compete with the beautiful and lush landscape of the hotel. So, we kept our design simple.
We love the dark wood tables we used and paired them with matching Chiavari chairs. Instead of flower arrangements, we opted for a greenery runner to give it a simple yet elegant look and the driftwood arch for our ceremony was amazing and perfect! Hawaiian Rents had it made just for us.”
“Both of our parents could not attend and make the trip to Hawaii due to health reasons so our godson and nieces walked us down the aisle. They were in the wedding as ring bearer and flower girls, but it made it more special to have them play a bigger role in the ceremony. Since we don’t have children of our own, they are very special to us.”
