With February 14th reserved for your beau you have no excuse to forget Galentine’s Day: the day you get to celebrate your female friendships! The concept was first coined on the sitcom Parks and Recreation when Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope explains what exactly Galentine’s Day is: “Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.”
What started as a TV joke has become an annual celebration – and why not?! Our female friendships are important and deserve to be celebrated.
Photographer Mikkel Paige and the ladies who run All Saints Chapel (a popular and historic wedding venue in Raleigh, North Carolina) got together to showcase how fun this feminist celebration can be!
