baobab tree elopement in africa

From Mary-Ann Art “This shoot took place in the most magical of settings, underneath a 2,000-year-old baobab tree on a private farm in Limpopo, South Africa. The shoot featured lux textures set against rustic scenery, with a beautiful floral wedding dress, warm toned elopement table, indigo and magenta botanicals and a quirky gin bar under a tree. And of course an adorable couple deeply in love! The shoot is topped off with a unique live wedding painting of the couple.”

“I was inspired by the beautiful paintings of Pierneef, which feature warm palettes and gorgeous African plants and trees. I wanted to use a warm palette and host the shoot under a baobab tree at my childhood home.

The floral palette was warm and vibrant, with a focus on Bougainvillea and tropical flowers. The arch of florals featured Bougainvillea, greenery, frangipani and vibrant red coral flowers.

My gran was so excited about the styled shoot that she made us a beautiful fruitcake, which our models loved! It’s the same cake she’s made me every December for a Christmas treat.”

“The beautiful floral dress by Silver Swallow was a perfect complement to our theme and suited the bride’s bohemian look. The dress is silken and flowy, with gorgeous botanical details. The groom wore his own attire, styled to fit the adventurous look we were going for.

The elopement tablescape featured warm dune and peach tones, with handmade ceramic candle holders and mauve glass details, as well as beautiful glassware and the plates that my parents received as a wedding gift. The relaxed setup would be perfect for a romantic elopement, and of course every elopement needs a gin bar! We positioned the gin bar beneath a stunning tree orchid and decorated it with some fancies and sculptures.”
