nostalgic cottage winter wedding

From Juniper & Lace Events “Cozy fireplaces, berry tones, fur wraps, and charming chic cottages inspired this winter styled shoot in the northern Michigan coastal town of Northport. A ceremony by the historic water mill, encircled in greens and candlelight, an excursion to the rocky ice-covered shores of Lake Michigan, a cozy fireside lounge, and a decadent dinner crafted to compliment the color palette in centerpiece design with a gourmet comfort food vibe!”

“We wanted to showcase the winter beauty of northern Michigan’s forests, great lakes coastline, and cozy cottage fireplaces.  Our goal was to capture the nostalgic vibe with our setting in the charming historic Willowbrook Mill and with small details like the vintage snowshoes, the plaid and knit blankets, the fur stole, and the family style fireside dining.

At the same time, we wanted a chic modern influence, hence the luxe details of fur in our tablescape and as a throw, the gorgeous hand-painted look of the bride’s dress, the trendy groom’s style, the bespoke macaron place cards, the creative selection of appetizers, and the gourmet style entrees.  Our stunning floral invitation suite also set the tone for luxury chic and the protea blooms took this shoot beyond classic to creative chic.”

The bride’s Rebecca Schoneveld gown from One Oak Bride was a stunning full gown featuring watercolor style dusty green and metallic swatches of color that played beautifully against the snowy white backdrop.  A fawn colored fur stole from Gigi & LaClede was a stylish and nostalgic accessory that complimented the light colors of the dress and the bride’s dark hair beautifully.

The groom wore attire from his own dapper wardrobe; the light grey vest over a dress shirt in light blue polka dots with a navy striped tie paired beautifully with the bride’s gown and reflected the trailing navy ribbon in her bouquet.

Lakeshore Diamond rings, a special line from Miner’s North Jewelers, were especially luxe and reminiscent of sparkling snow and ice.”

“The tablescape used a navy dupioni textured linen and a creamy faux fur runner created a warm canvas for a stunning berry tone floral compote surrounded by champagne votives and taper candles on gold candle stands.  Notably, the family style dinner not only added an intimate nostalgic vibe but was also part of our centerpiece design.  Pistachio encrusted lamb with pomegranate seeds and mint gastrique pulled from the reds and greens while herb and garlic roasted game hen with blueberry-balsamic reduction added an earthy texture and deep blue color to the table.  A bowl of winter vegetable hash pulled more reds and deep purples into the centerpiece.

Red wine and rose champagne with amber water goblets at the place settings continued the color story next to gold silverware, gold-rimmed chargers topped in glittered champagne dinner plates (tying in to the metallics of the votives and candle holders) framed a unique feather-rimmed salad plate that featured the centerpiece colors.  The top plate, banded vertically with a deep burgundy napkin was topped in a custom menu that featured multi-hued burgundy and red lettering and greenery at the bottom to complete the look. A decorative gold coaster held watercolor fig & brie macarons hand-lettered in gold with each guest’s name at each place setting as a savory aperitif escort card.”
